He leads BOLDT’s public policy, public affairs, political risk and Brexit work.

A Dutch national, he has 20+ years’ experience leading political campaigns and relations with the EU Institutions.

A former trade union official and ministerial adviser, Michiel started his career as an official with the EU Council of Ministers. From 1999 to 2004 he was an MEP and spokesman on budgetary control, internal market and legal affairs, agriculture and fisheries issues.

Subsequently, Michiel was Executive Vice Chair of the think-tank Policy Network, Chairman of the Dutch Labour Party and, between 2007-2010, managing director at Burson-Marsteller.
