A Dutch national with 25 years’ experience in politics and journalism, Joshua advises BOLDT’s clients on their interactions with the complex array of stakeholders involved in EU public policy development.
Joshua has worked in three different European political systems. His extensive experience includes advising members of the UK Conservative shadow cabinet; working as personal assistant to former European Commissioner for Internal Market and Taxation Frits Bolkestein when he pioneered the introduction of the EU Services Directive; and serving as a strategic adviser to the then leader of the opposition – and current Prime Minister – in The Netherlands, Mark Rutte.
He is a regular newspaper commentator in Dutch media and an active social media influencer. He was chair of the Yes campaign in the 2016 Dutch Ukraine–European Union Association Agreement referendum.
For the past 15 years he has been offering strategic advice to international companies and organisations on their public policy interactions at EU and member state level.
