Grete Faremo has more than 10 years’ experience holding 5 different portfolios from 1990 to 2013 as a Norwegian government minister serving 3 Prime Ministers. She served as Minister of International Development, Minister of Justice, Minister of Oil end Energy.  After a period of 13 years in business (VEP Storebrand Insurance and Director Legal and Corporate Affairs for Western Europe in Microsoft) she returned as Minister of Defence and Minister of Justice and public Security. She was also elected to Parliament from the Labour Party 1993 – 1997.

In 2014 she was appointed Under Secretary General of the UN and Executive Director UNOPS where she served for 8 years. Faremo has served on a number of Company Boards over the years (Chair of Statnett, Deputy Chair of Hydro, member of the board of Elkem, Schibsted)

Faremo is a feminist and an advocate for gender equality in corporate boards. She has presented new legislation in numerous areas to fight violence against women and children and promote equal pay for equal jobs among men and women.
